LivingSocial - Card Linking Restaurant App

Background
Restaurants Plus is a Card Linking Service(CLS) platform for food&drinks. Its existence is to improve LivingSocial consumers’ dining experience by replacing the old voucher model with CLS. Consumers can earn cashback with no efforts by paying with their linked credit cards at restaurants in network.

Understand the problems
Based on researches, usability testings, user interviews and GA:
1. Restaurants Plus is currently nested inside LivingSocial’s voucher app, so neither side of the consumer experience is living up to its potential. The interface is crowded, and navigation is all over the place.
2. The nature of CLS provides consumers an effortless cashback experience and requires very little interactions once they are set up. So the app is struggling with re-engagement and consumer acquisition.
My role
My role was comprised of competitive analysis, sketching, user journey, flow chart, wire-framing, prototyping, as well as leading the visual design team to create style guide and high fidelity mockups.
Researching, Sketching & Storyboard
Based on our competitive analysis and other researches, we believe introducing social elements and gamification into our design will be the right strategy to increase user engagement. My team and I mapped out features and invisioned a few different ways to guide and inspire consumers to make dining decisions:
Low-fi wireframes & User flow
Moving forward from the storyboard, my team and I started putting together lo-fi wireframes and visualizing the user flow.
Mid-fi wireframes
During the process of hi-fidelity wire-framing, we dug into details on each screens, place the components/features based on our research findings and card sorting results.
Visual Exploration
Colors and font sizes can be easily shifted from designer to designer. To ensure consistency throught out the product,  I led a team of 3 to create a visual style guide. During exploration our goal is to find color palette that generates the right energy and feel, typography that reflects our unique identity, iconography that sets us apart.
High-fidelity mockups
With an established visual style guide, I then led the team to translate wireframes into visually appealing interfaces, down to the finest details. The process involves numerous iterations.
