This textbook on High Angle Rescue Techniques called for a more masculine design and palette than many of the nursing texts I design for Elsevier. Orange was requested as one of the primary colors for the cover; this was carried over into the interior palette along with the safety harness ropes imagery. the simple, straightforward style featured a handfull of box and table design as well as skills, chapter questions, and backmatter.
I do not handle typesetting and layout of live pages for Elsevier but rather design a sample chapter or two which includes all design elements present in the manuscript (excerpts shown here). I then then create a set of written specifications covering all elements for the compositor to follow. Sample InDesign files with master pages and style sheets are also provided.
