Each year, the University of Northern Iowa Department of Art puts on the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. It is a chance for every student to submit three pieces that they have completed within the year. Every piece is hand selected by a guest juror. It is a great chance for students to view what their classmates have been working on inside and outside of class.
In my typography class, we were given the option to design the promotional posters. I jumped at the chance. To my surprise, this poster design was chosen by the gallery curator. For this particular poster, the only restrictions were to use only two Pantone colors. I believe I used Pantone 5185 C as the main background color and Pantone Warm Red C to make everything pop. I wanted to make something kind of playful that would catch someone's eye immediately.
