A simple, minimalistic, and stylish form

Let’s say you love history or you are obsessed with pure materials. Well, then the RAW cubes are just for you. Whether you are an artist and you need a little extra inspiration; a designer and you are looking for the perfect object to put in the minimalist apartment you are designing; a perfectionist that collects objects with perfect shapes; a scientist that wants a reminder of the beauty of nature; or just a material geek that wants a perfectly cube-shaped piece of lava, RAW cubes are designed just for you.
Why RAW cubes are so special? We can only answer this with three simple, but important characteristics: solid, size and pure.
Solid: From the four states of matter existing in the world, liquid, plasma, gas and solid, we chose the latter one. It is characterised by molecules of the substance that connect in such strong bonds, that the particles cannot move and you could not walk through a solid object. Isn’t owning an object that represents one of the strongest ties in the world inspiring?
Size: Size is a very important feature of RAW cubes. Our initial choice of 5x5x5cm has been carefully chosen in order to best fit you. We believe that this size will not only look aesthetically in your collection or on your table, but also elevate the amazing material of our product.
Pure: Each RAW cube will glorify one material only. We want to outline the perfect shape and texture of the material in its purest form. In addition, the materials chosen are so amazing and special, that we wouldn’t dare to mix them with other materials. Hence, our main goal is to glorify the material use the minimum amount of other metals (<3%).
What happens when people are inspired by perfect geometric shapes and love minimalism? They become product designers and try to make their products as perfect as those shapes. And so, we, the product designers, after many years of creating beautiful products for other people, decided to bring and show our long time passion to the world. Hence, while trying to capture the essence of the material used and incorporate the perfect geometric shapes, the RAW cubes concept was born.
Copper is the first metal ever to be used by humans. First copper tools were made at around ~5000 BC. Without copper, the Statue of Liberty would not look the way it does today, as the natural oxidation of copper gave it this particular colour. Copper, gold and platinum are the only metals that do not have a metallic cover. Also, copper is a biostatic metal, which means that bacteria can’t grow on it. The approximate amount of copper in the Earth crust is about 1024kg. Wouldn’t it be cool if you were the owner of a 0,00000000000000000000000013% of all copper on the earth in the shape of a perfect RAW cube? By the way, the 5cm3 copper cube weighs approximately 1,3kg. Tips and considerations: After some time, the copper is going to react with the oxygen from the air and stains of copper oxide will be visible on the surface. We intentionally did not cover it with any additional compounds because we wanted you to experience pure elemental copper.
Well, how much explanation does that need? It’s a piece of freaking lava right out of the volcano! In what another way could you feel the power of nature’s fundamental forces in your hand? Lava consists of various metals and minerals melted into one piece. It takes enormous pressure and temperatures to do this, but no worries, earth got such extreme places, right below its crust. So, we are ready to bring You a perfectly awesome RAW cube made out of lava.
Otherwise known as MORTA, is one of the densest types of wood available in the world. Since the beginning of history, oak was the most commonly used material. It was used for furniture and in the building process. You might ask: Is there something cooler than oak? Well, Bog oak is most definitely the answer. Do you want to know why? It is because this piece of wood has a lot of history hidden inside of it. We use bog oak brought from Ukraine that had been lying on the bottom of a lake for approximately 3000 years. Can you imagine how long is 3000 years? I mean, the iPhone has released 9 years ago, but 3000 years ago? It’s briefly all the history of the world as we know it. The Collapse of the Roman Empire, the industrial revolution, the first man on the moon, the iPhone release - during all of this events this piece of bog oak was resting at the bottom of the lake, waiting for You to have it.
Steel is one of the most seldom used alloys in human history. Without it, we couldn't have built any of the amazing pieces of architecture such as The Eiffel Tower, The Golden Bridge and The Dubai’s wonder, Burj Khalifa. And let’s not ignore the satisfying colour and touching texture of the material. How perfect would a RAW stainless steel cube be in your minimalist apartment or in your metals collection?
How will it work?
To keep things fair we will make an online poll, where every backer will have a chance to nominate any material they want to get in their collection.
