Children's Ceramic Dining Set

1. Ideation and Sketching

The idea to create a child's eating set came to mind with my interest in home crockery. I drew upon memories of my own set of Peter Rabbit bowls, however I never used them as they soon became a collectors item sitting in my parent's cabinet. With this design, I want the child to participate in eating through their natural action of grabbing to eat. The bowl features handles that aids in the child's interaction of stabilizing the bowl while eating their meal. Ceramic was a choice of material because of its timeless properties to grow with the child as a memory, ease of cleaning and better heat retention, and aesthetically pleasing to touch.
2. Research and Prototyping

First and second generation of models being tested by children. Analyzed where grips can be improved and reconfigured in the final design.
3. Ceramic Processing

Working away in the studio modelling clay and hand painting bowl features.

4. Completion of Ceramic Bowls, Spoon, and Fork Models
Spoon and fork handles were modelled in RHINO 5.0 and 3D printed using the maker bot. Bowls were hand built and glazed to perfection.
5. Packaging and Branding

Custom die line created to show case the bowl. Cut away feature allows user to touch and feel the ceramic bowl and spoon and fork set.
