Club Flyers 1999-2003

Club Flyers
1999–2003
Came up with this multi-fold template which we did for about 6 months.  It was fun and challenging doing this every month.
One of the SmartBat fold-out designs. I really liked this system a lot.
Not a flyer, but a CD digipak I did for Smirnoff. The "release" logo was custom. This piece got printed in "Coast to Coast: Contemporary American Graphic Design" by Robert Klanten (Die Gestalten Verlag)
All vector (including images) flyer for Squarepusher and Plaid at Metro (2001)
Progression Sessions with LTJ Bukem + MC Conrad at Metro (2001)
Derrick May at Zentra (2001)
Plaid + Mr. Scruff at Metro/SmartBar (2002)
In 2002 Sound-Bar opened in Chicago. I did all the artwork for the opening including flyers, VIP cards, print advertisements, etc. I didn't do the 3-circle identity.
I came up with the "I Love My Smartbar" tagline for this flyer. We used that branding for a while.
When the iPod first came out, SmartBar decided to do an iPod DJing night. I drew the iPod in Illustrator for this and obviously the layout is heavily influenced by Apple ads of the same time.
The "October" type here is custom. These monthly flyers were pretty large format, but still much smaller (and less complicated) than the fold-outs we were doing the previous year.
Pretty sure I borrowed some inspiration from Rinzen for the circle cluster.
I remember banging this one out quickly. All I had to work with was the text and the little green and red "target" for Thievery Corp's from their new album. The front was super graphic heavy (all vector) so I kept the back really simple. It was the first time I ever left the back of a flyer mostly blank – which I started doing more of after that.
