2017 Special Species Symposium Logo

I was asked to digitalize the logo for this event based on a hand-drawn sketch (below, left). The original sketch of the logo concept was done by Eden Stark, DVM Candidate 2019, and she retains all copyright to this design.
The theme of the 2017 Symposium is climate change and its impact on the behavior and survival of so-called "special species" - exotic species that are not typically the focus of a veterinary education.
I began by creating an outline of the sketch in Adobe Photoshop CS6, refining some of the details that were difficult to see in the original sketch. I then digitally painted the logo, using a cohesive blue-green color scheme with yellow accents. I used a laptop trackpad for all of the lineart and coloring, as I was away for the holidays without my tablet.
