Works in Progress
This is a collection of pieces that I have started and touched upon throughout my Art class. I do not consider them finished in their current states for a variety of reasons however, and they are examples of concepts that I believe I need more practice on. Some of the images in this collection are here because I want to adjust the drawing style I used for them. Others I want to edit because I don't think I used the Photoshop techniques well enough such as for blurring or creating a ghost effect.
Title: Firebolt Logo
Media: A digital art piece.
The above image is one of the first pieces that I submitted, as part of our introductory week. It is an idea for a logo design that I have used from time to time in the past, and want to work to refine in the future. While I do like its current iteration, it feels like there needs to be something else to compliment or contrast the bolt. I'm not sure if this would constitute different colors being added in, or maybe something like another design behind the bolt.
Title: Distortion Drink
Media: A Pencil and Paper Sketch
This is a sketch that I made of my phone behind a glass full of cranberry juice. It was a submission I made for the weekly topic of transparency and opacity. Up front, I want to improve my technique for sketching objects behind other objects. More directly, I need more practice with drawing objects that aren't fully opaque. Beyond that, I would like to improve the details of the surface that the phone and glass are lying upon to better ground the image.
Title: Solving Motion
Media: Photography
This was an attempt I made at producing some convincing motion blur within an image  through Photoshop. My goal was to make it seem as though the cube was in the process of being turned. The way I did so needs some recognizable work however. I used the smudge tool a bit for the effect, which I think distracted more from the illusion more than it helped it. This piece was my submission for our weekly topic of motion and emotion.
Title: The Tree Bathed in Moonlight
Media: A digital art piece.
This was piece I made towards the topic of figure and ground. On that end I think the tree, rocks, and moon stand out well against the ground and sky respectively. Where I think this image needs work is on the style. I had created it with my attempt at a sketched scene with a somewhat abstract color scheme. I don't think that the two meshed as well as I had hoped though, so I may try a different coloring style for this.
Title: Haunted Halls
Media: Photography
This was a work that I created for the purposes of practicing Photoshop techniques such as blurring and noise to create ghosting effects and an overall haunted tone. This was also a submission I made for the weekly topic of transparency and opacity as the ghosting effect is based heavily upon the concepts. Overall, I want to improve upon the effect for both the figure on the left and the pumpkin on the right, as I think they stand out too much from the background behind them. I think I could do so by adjusting their scale and opacity to make it look more believable that they would be within the scene of the image.
