The Brief: Develop a new table joint mechanism / design for a table.

Design Considerations: The joint could be attached either to the sides or the middle, as long as it balances. The joint and the mechanism should be only in 3 parts in total. The joint should be made either of aluminum, wood, PVC/PP or a mixture of all three.

Process: Various joints of wood, aluminum and plastic were researched and evaluated. After brainstorming with initial ideas, two were selected and explored, but ultimately one was developed and manufactured.

Outcome: A simple three part joint was chosen and manufactured. Ideally, the pin should be a screw with a bolt for the further security of the joint. The shape of the design is different and unique and also provides more support.
