The following project was created for the comprehensive exam held in the institute at the end of the 4th semester in Eger. Our excercise was to think up a wine label design for local wines, while staying away from overused clichés and stereotypes. My concept was to reinterpret nature's role in the process of creation of said wines, emphasising on the mixture of elements involved.  I focused on Eger's characteristic hill called Nagy-Eged, which is famous for its  vineyards and can be seen from each part of the city,

For the wines I thought up a logo for a winery that marks the place of origin, simply naming it after the hill. The logo is a combination of the winery, the vineyards, the hilltop Nagy-Eged, all included within the symbol of the well-known point of interest shape.
The complexity of the wine's taste origins not only in the mixture of native grapes, but the surrounding terrain, soil and wildlife as well. The labels are made from symbols of natural elements (from complex to simple) layered on each other referencing the diverse roles partaking in the creation of wine. The photographic elements express the participation of fauna & flora in the cycle of nature, the concentric lines refer to topographical relief contours and the small curves represent the flow of time and the phenomena of erosion. The simple shapes symbolise the wine - the extract of nature's efforts combined in a single product, resulting in a rich taste.
As a side project I created packages for various dark chocolates, which is a less serious approach, a more figurative take on the subject. Its aim is to promote the preservation of the national park that borders the wine culture, representing the rarest species of the area. The packages and wine labels together create a visually united family that expresses a strong message in a subtle, elegant way.
