100 and 100, two amounts seemingly equal, but completely different.

For the ‘100’ ISTD project, I explored the relationship between different currencies and the apparent worth of 100. Even though the numerical amount is the same, their worth differs immensely. This can depend on the currencies nominal value, its involvement in global trading and the countries general economy. To really understand the worth of 100 you need to see what is possible to buy. I therefore gathered statistics about how much 100 is worth in terms of living costs in different countries e.g. how long 100 worth of grocery shopping will last or how long one would have to work to earn 100.  The booklet I produced explores what one hundred can buy in the top 14 most traded currencies on the Forex market. These currencies are arguably the most powerful in the world yet the differences between the worth of 100 are vast.
