Abbott was launching its Point of Care System. This unique and remarkable system would allow blood test results to be read instantly at the "point of care', instead of waiting for a lab. The intelligence behind the system is comprised of the Data Manager and the Service Portal. The Data Manager keeps track of higher level information for patients, hospitals, test results, quality control, etc. The Service Portal would track more detailed information such as cartridge expiration dates, inventory control, connectivity, media updates, etc. Each application was designed and developed around strict FDA regulations.
