Young Lions - Costa Rica 2012
Second Round

This years second entry for Cannes Young Lions in the Print category.

The subject was "The costa-rican hour". An allusion to the suppose national habit of arriving late to appointments

Costa Rica is locally known as the Central American Switzerland (in reference to its commitment to peace), so we decided to capitalize on the connection by creating a cuckoo clock made entirely from pre-Colombian endemic artwork.

All pieces were reproduced from real indigenous artifacts in store in the "Museo del Oro", we modeled and textured them in 3d and create an ensemble mimicking the clock. The caption "it's never too late to be ahead of time" provided the reference to the "Costa Rican hour" reinvigorated through a new concept.

Due to time constraints specific to the process, we have 16 hours to create the piece, It was modeled, textured, rendered and post processed in that time frame.

Model and textured in Blender, rendered using Maxwell Render, Post process in Photoshop.
