Farhang-The Culture

Farhang, meaning "The Culture" is based on the images found on a 5200 year-old earthenware goblet that was excavated from an ancient city in Iran. The image on this goblet is the oldest known animated work in the world.
The story of this animation regards the relationship of cultures of the past and the present, and how it effects various cultures. The goblet in this animation is the symbol of culture and the stem that grows from the goblet can be regarded as a symbol of culture as its roots are linked to the past. This stem is like a guide that connects today's generation with the roots of their own cultural history and inspires them toward greater self-awareness. While they may be somewhat unaware of this process, they hunger for this connection and they intuitively understand that this connection will help them to savor the sweet complexities of the fruits of modern-day culture. It is a story of our desire to connect with our cultural history.
