In late 2016 I was approached by New Leaf, a Jazz-Pop fusion group, to create a cover, disc art, and insert for their first album of the same name.
The client wanted artwork that represented the story of the album; a tale of reluctant love, friendship, and celebrating the start of something unexpected. They also requested the use of photographic elements.
After researching albums released by similar artists, and liaising with the client to discuss particular imagery I ended up with a tree, leaves, and the wing of a blue butterfly to represent the narrative within the music.
The typeface used is Foglihten with a number of bilateral serifs reduced and a slight shadowing to help it stand apart from the background.
New Leaf is now making steady progress towards their goal of being played on 100 radio stations across Australia, with the album being played on over 55 frequencies since release.
