This poster, reflecting my work as a design student in 2005, attempts to illustrate the major steps involved
in direct photographic composition, the transitional type-composition technology that bridged the gap between the analog and digital eras. Direct-photographic composition was developed in the 1950s and
was used extensively during the 1960s and 1970s. After intensive research, I decided to use a tight grid
and symbols reflecting the time period's preference for reductive semiotics and Swiss Design.
