I spent over a week living in the jungle with Buddhist monks at monastery in Central, Sri Lanka. The monks are in isolation living in caves with minimal contact with the outside world. They follow strict Dhamma teaching and are highly focused on meditation. I was trained by Sanwarasheela Bhanthe, a monk who holds a PhD in chemistry. Eight months prior to my stay he was in the US developing E sensors that could detect cancer. He realized he was completely unhappy with his life, bought a ticket home and 3 days later he was ordained.
