The Dead Undead
June 2012
This is my latest self-initiated project, the inspiration for which spawns from the fact I am about to begin reading Bram Stoker's Dracula for the first time. The title 'The Dead Undead' was Stoker's working-title for the novel prior to publication.
I originally wanted to portray the image of a vampire in a traditionalist sense; beautiful, elegant, lustful, pale-skinned, and desirable. As the concept of the piece developed it also took on more of a 'horror' theme which brought about the integration of the cemetery-setting, and the inclusion of both the crow and bats, the streaks of lightning, with the erie full-moon providing the backdrop.
