The challenge was in developing customizable system which would allow to build multi-section, multi-page assessments with dependencies on questions within different pages or sections of the assessment. The goal was to allow for quicker assessment building by non technical people.
The solution
was quite elegant design with complex logic and extensive functionality. I have identified the target audience and defined user tasks that they would need to complete assessment creation. I have started with page flows and wire-frames, identified the logical steps that users would need to take to assemble assessment from start to finish. We realized that the process can be quite complex. I have decided that it would be the best if user would be narrowly guided through initial steps to prevent information overload and to get smooth start. The UI would reveal only one step at a time allowing user to focus only on the task at hand.
