Coleman Custom Storage

Collaborative project for Design 200 class at OSU
The final project in Design 200 at OSU consists of a group design for a new product for Coleman. We were presented with the task of bringing Coleman's product line indoors,  to create a single new product while showing our design process.

In a group of six other students, my major responsibility to the group was to create the packaging and and shipping container. Along with this, I also provided input into the total aesthetic of the presentation, coloring all product renderings, and helping identify Coleman's target customers and their needs.
Product Packaging.
Opting for a hanging product fact tag instead of a sticker, this reduces the materials needed to produce each tag. There is also no residue left on the product when the tag is cut off.

Coleman's signature forest green product packaging creates a complimentary background for the khaki typeface. Instead of resorting to stock images, I chose to utilize my own photo library. The photograph is of a hidden stream in Brule Lake, Canada.
Instead of creating a fully enclosed box for each storage cabinet, my group agreed that the cabinet was rugged enough to be shipped by itself, with a simple recycled cardboard wrap. Coleman can make ten shipping sleeves from the same amount of materials it would take to create one box. The natural cardboard color goes well with the iconic Coleman red logo.
Accessories and Add-ons.

Along with the primary design for the cabinet, our group also decided to create accessories to make the cabinet truly customizable to each customers needs.
AC drying fan. The fan vents through the top of the cabinet, allowing wet clothes, towels, boots and more to dry quickly.
Slide-out drainage tub.
