Considering an area of Honolulu as both “place” (the public perception of a site) and “space” (the private use of the same site), this book project is an investigation of Honolulu’s Chinatown, and the intersection between two types of adaptation (immigrant to local and local to immigrant) indexed in the juxtaposition of metric and imperial (inch) measurement systems within the book as well as the book-within-a-book form.
