Paul Smith Mainline Collection Fragrance

Brief

Design a his and hers fragrance for British fashion designer Paul Smith's premium Mainline collection, capturing the essence of the brand.

Solution

The concept was inspired by the similarities between Paul Smith and a magpie, both being social, creative characters, who cannot resist to pick up interesting objects. From this concept, we focused on magnetism. Silver magnetic strips were placed on both sides of the his and her fragrance bottles, not only to subtly attract to each other when placed together, but to allow objects around the bottles to be drawn to the bottle.

This was a collaboration project with Libby Insch, which was selected first prize by
Sir Paul Smith.
The embossing/debossing on the fragrance packaging allow the boxes detailing to subtly fit together.
The interior detailing inside the female and male boxes have been inspired by flashes of colour found in a magpie's feather.
