Grand Canyon (Text Placement and Design)

Do I know how to effectively combine an image with text for aesthetically-pleasing graphics? That was the question posed with this assignment. After receiving the necessary text and choosing from several images, it was my goal to use fonts and colors to create a mood that was fitting to the image.
For me, the obvious place to put the text was on the left - drawing the viewer's focus to the trail/path in the center-right of the screen. I chose a more elegant serif font for the title, and used a brownish-green color for the second portion of the title. My vision for the image was the aesthetic you'd see in a magazine. The visual hierarchy is clear through font sizes - Grand Canyon is the most important text, followed by National Park, then the information surrounding the park. On the bottom right, the dark shadows contrast with the white text, which tells the viewer how to plan their visit.
The text was harder to place in this graphic - but the space between the canyons seemed to work best. I went for a more rustic, old-fashioned look with the font and the white stroke. I enlarged the G to draw more attention to the title. The horizontal placement of the park information felt very impactful and nicely separated from the title - giving it more emphasis than the previous picture. Additionally, using green from the photo as the color for this text provides consistently and blends the text nicely within the photo.
It felt like the skyline was the visually intriguing part of the photo, so I opted to place the text as low as possible. I added some variation by bolding "Grand Canyon" and keeping National Park regular. Keeping with the horizontal placement in the last photo, I played around with the "blue" from the sky to emphasize the numbers as well as the visit information.
