From my solo show, Cute Animal Facts Dot Com.

Have you ever had a bad day? Perhaps an incident caused some unwelcome thoughts to bubble up, and in order to bury those thoughts deep in the catacombs of your mind, you took to the internet and binged on cute baby animals? Animals are so fucking cute. Who needs thoughts that make you stare into the meaning of your existence and the value of your time which ticks away every second as you read this? I don't. All I need are adorable kittens and bunnies. (Cute animal fact: A baby bunny is actually called a kitten and we are all going to die one day.)

Created during a 2015 residency, Cute Animal Facts Dot Com was inspired by our tendency to avoid thoughts that might actually be helpful to consider. The silhouettes of cute animals in pastels offset the message hidden in the negative space. Each painting is titled with a corresponding cute animal fact, for instance "Seahorses Travel While Holding Each Other's Tails" and "A Group of Bunnies Is Called a Fluffle."
