Client: Victoria & Albert Museum
The museum has a new exhibit titled ‘Decorative Disguise’.
The concept behind my illustration was to illustrate howpeople tend to want to blend into the surroundings or culture they are in.Choosing an African woman and placing her in Japanese culture would create notonly visual contrast but also cultural contrast. She is seen dressed as ageisha girl with her skin tone and hair texture emphasized to show that she isin a ‘decorative disguise’.
