An animated music video for Malaysian hip-hop artist/poet/lyricist, Sayla for his single 'Circles' from his debut concept album 'Conversations with Self & Other Stories'.

To me, it's an honest song about life’s ups and downs, and how everything is connected to one another going in circles, of cause and effect.

Visually, to suggest the "different facets of life", 8 amazing talented artists that I admired were invited to express their signature style over selected stills from live-action footages of Sayla that we shot in China Town, Kuala Lumpur.

Then, to give it an organic and dreamy feel, I along with 4 crazy animators/motion graphers animated all 10 scenes (56 shots) hand-drawn style, rotoscoped frame-by-frame (running time 3:16 = 196 sec X 12 frames per second = 2,352 frames).

The project took us almost a year to complete, as there were no strict deadlines and I asked everyone to work on their own time and gave them creative freedom.

I wanted to push myself and see what else I can do creatively. I wanted to do something fun and exciting, to express creatively and test my skills and limitations.
