A funeral chapel known as the "Chapel of the Lost and Found" is located in an urban area on a corner lot in Alexandria, Virginia. The project is composed of two parts creating dichotomies between lost and found, sacred and profane, and a chapel and a tower. The chapel is buried in the ground focusing on the process of descending into the sacred space. The tower forms the backdrop to the chapel, housing the Alexandria lost and found, Find-A-Grave, and administrative offices of the chapel. In between the two pieces is an underground stream diverted through the site to create a pre-function space for the chapel. The exterior space is formed by the sloping roof of the chapel, creating a space for exterior services and gatherings, as well as a memorial to "love ones lost."
