Crabs To Go
Type: Branding | Client: Self Initiated | Year: 2015
Crabs To Go is a small crab shack that focuses on carryout orders in Ocean City, Maryland. When studying the competitors logos, I realized that all of them use the image of a crab as their main icon. I wanted to separate this company from its competition by creating a logo that was unique. The Chesapeake Bay Retriever, being the Maryland state dog, is a common and much respected animal because of its attributes and history. Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are most common among watermen due to their extreme loyalty, obedience, strong will, and hard working personality. The Chesapeake Retriever and Crabs To Go share many common characteristics and attributes. Creating the Chesapeake Retriever as the symbol of this brand shows not only the hard working spirit and loyalty of Crabs To Go, but also of the culture and history of Maryland and the crabbing industry. My hope is that this system effectively conveys these elements and that it will distinguish the company from the competition.
