The client is one big player of the Australian Gambling and Betting Industry. They have a near monopoly on lotteries in Australia. They have different brands operating in Victoria, Tasmania, The Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia. They also hold racing and sports wagering licenses in Queensland, South Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania. The group recently began to unify all of its wagering properties under the new brand.

I worked with them as a Experience Design Consultant (from Avanade) to help them to design their Self Betting terminal. This terminal is a machine placed in pubs and betting agencies. With these machines the users can place and pay for their bets by themselves (no need to have an operator). 

Behind the scenes

Some of the steps I needed to follow before creating a design solution:

- Contextual inquiry: Observing the users in a pub and in local agency.
- Personas and scenarios: I developed three personas based on the user's behaviour.
Just then I was able to identify and address their needs to design the terminal.
