I was commissioned to design a logo that represents the figure and the music of Tesmo, a great producer of southern Italy that ranges from the most "classic" Hip Hop sounds up to the more fresh and experimental.
Tesmo is an eclectic, original, who spends his days in his studio, flooded with machines with which gives rise to visions; The footprint of the beats, it is very strong, impact and undoubtedly leaves the listener's ear sign.
This latter feature is the one that interested me the most mark, because I think it is an important trademark, which distinguishes it among many Italian producer.
I was inspired by the symbol of the Decepticons for this reason: to represent the "evil", only music, understood as the power, but not only; Besides his passion for old robots 80s that influenced many creative like us, also he interested me the concept of "transformation" and the ability to move in the space of Transformes "bad."
Applied to the client, the first describes the musical attudine in seeking new and old samples and turn them into key personnel; in the second concept it is contained the Tesmo skills, in moving from one mood, using technology as a vehicle to get from one to the other through a score, a sequencer, and also the physical space in the form of sounds and frequencies .
The maximum expression and in my view the most visceral producer, is through the "fingering", the art of playing with the keys of a sampler / drum machine, an apparatus that I personally see as the mechanical projection of the personality of the user, in a fusion man / machine typical of the best movies or cartoon retro science fiction.
To do this you have to be very skilled and nimble, so you have to have the particular synapses to carry the traffic of these fast and powerful nerve impulses, here is the reason for the claim: "Speed Level Synapses".
Crucially, the lettering, the central and most important part with the producer name, that fits perfectly with the rest of the futuristic structure.

Mi è stato commissionato di progettare un logo che rappresentasse la figura e la musica di Tesmo, un ottimo producer del sud Italia che spazia dalle sonorità Hip Hop più "classiche" fino a quello più fresche e sperimentali.

Mi è stato commissionato di progettare un logo che rappresentasse la figura e la musica di Tesmo, un ottimo producer del sud Italia che spazia dalle sonorità Hip Hop più "classiche" fino a quello più fresche e sperimentali.
Tesmo è un'artista eclettico, originale, che trascorre le giornate nel suo studio, sommerso dalle macchine con le quali da vita alle proprie visioni; L'impronta dei beat, è molto decisa, d'impatto e indubbiamente lascia il segno nell'orecchio dell'ascoltatore.
Quest'ultima caratteristica, è quella che mi interessava marcare maggiormente, perchè ritengo sia un marchio di fabbrica importante, che lo contraddistingue fra i tanti producer italiani.
Mi sono ispirato al simbolo dei Decepticon proprio per questo: per rappresentare la "cattiveria", solo musicale, intesa come potenza, ma non solo; Oltre alla passione per i vecchi robot degli anni '80 che hanno influenzato molti creativi come noi, mi interessava anche il concetto della "trasformazione" e la capacità di spostarsi nello spazio dei Transformes "cattivi".
Applicate al committente, la prima descrive l'attudine musicale nel ricercare vecchi e nuovi sample e trasformarli in chiave personale; nel secondo concetto è racchiusa l'abilità di Tesmo, nello spostarsi da un mood all'altro, utilizzando la tecnologia come veicolo per andare da un tramite all'altro di uno spartito, di un sequencer e anche dello spazio fisico sottoforma di suoni e frequenze.
L'espressione massima e a mio avviso più viscerale del producer, avviene attraverso il "fingering", l'arte di suonare con i tasti di un campionatore / drum machine, apparecchio che personalmente vedo come la proiezione meccanica della personalità di chi lo utilizza, in una fusione uomo / macchina tipica dei migliori film o cartoon di fantascienza retro.
Per fare ciò bisogna essere molto abili e svelti, perciò bisogna avere delle sinapsi particolari per reggere il traffico di questi veloci e potentissimi impulsi nervosi, ecco il motivo del claim: "Speed Level Synapses".
Fondamentale, il lettering, la parte centrale e più importante con il nome del producer, che si incastra perfettamente con il resto della struttura futuristica.

I started with a pencil drawing, just after a short search sessions and free imagination, then I redesigned and developed in vector, the most satisfying sketch.

Sono partito con un disegno a matita, subito dopo una breve session di ricerca e libera immaginazione, dopodichè ho ridisegnato ed elaborato in vettoriale, il bozzetto più soddisfacente.
