MEDINA STITCHING, Rabat, Morocco
Participating in a studio led by Olivier Brochet at the L'EAPBX, we travelled to the National School of Architecture in Rabat to study a site at the edge of the medina. The program required cultural and commercial buildings as well as maximizing the number of housing units.

Our proposal stitches several housing units creating parallel secondary streets that converge at an elevated plaza overlooking the neighboring town of Sale. The elevated plaza connects the river level through a multi-level mediatheque or a shaded open court.
The typical unit is a cube surrounding an open court for prayer to take place. Circulation opens to the court, providing independent access to variable sized rooms. Series of combinations provide for different sized units allowing diversity of dwellers.
