Of all the media I use pen & ink is, by far, the most taxing and requires extensive planning and focus. But it is the most satisfying of all.
In addition to the most traditional definition of pen & ink, I have included colored marking pens and "scratch board" because the techniques involved in these media are nearly identical to traditional pen & ink. In my "scratch board" (clayboard) work, I cover the backgrounds with ink using either an airbrush or sable brush and I use technical pens, needles, and erasers for the fine detail work.
