Lake Katherine Identity
Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens requested a major facelift to their original logo - which was 25 years old.

The new look requested needed to have a modern, contemporary look, that could convey all of the various features of the center - including their nature paths, wildlife, variety of plants, and colorful settings.

The result was a mark that combined a clean serif typeface with an iconic mark that could symbolize nature paths, birds, or flowers. The color palette of the icons was pulled from the various plants that bloom and wildlife that live throughout Lake Katherine.

Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens in Palos Heights unveiled its new logo on May 15 at this month's Palos Area Chamber of Commerce meeting.

"Lake Katherine is different things to our different visitors — active, relaxing, stimulating, educational, inspiring," explained Gareth Blakesley, operations manager of Lake Katherine. "We wanted our logo to reflect this wide range of appeal."

The new Lake Katherine logo, designed by Sochacki Communications of Palos Heights, is representative of what Lake Katherine is — colorful, welcoming, interpretive and contemporary.

The logo is one more step in communicating Lake Katherine's growth and vision for the future, as is the recently completed Lake Katherine Master Site Plan. Information on the master site can be found at lakekathering.org

Visitors to Lake Katherine can already see the new logo on signage posted as they enter Lake Katherine, 7402 West Lake Katherine Drive.
