4-word-idiom Series
The concept of my project is using stories behind Chinese4-word-idiom to reflect social situation today.

Chinese 4-word-Idiom is a significant element of the Chineselanguage.  Although these idiomshave a deep historical meaning and traditional cultural background, in China, they are still alive under the strong western centrism both in cultivatedpeople and uncultivated people. 4-word-Idiom has already been nature of the language of China.  These idioms use 4 words to describeancient stories simply and vivid. Idioms are being used everyday show the real reflection of society.Chinese 4-word-idiom, as the ancient Greece Aesop's Fables, is playing animportant role to make us rethink our society and caution us. The project alsowill be a medium to introduce Chinese culture and the beauty of culture.

The first project is a narrative form, so I brought atraditional Chinese puppet play that is called the Shadow Play to this piece. Imade the most vital frame of the story. Moreover, I did research on thetraditional folk art. Chinese traditional opera and shadow play weresignificant reference.  I found, inthis project, the Shadow play is an important reference by using the techniqueof cloisonné enamel. I also can use riveting to connect characters’ parts andmake them moveable. Cloisonné is the most well known traditional Chinese metalsmith.  It is also a symbolic styleof Chinese Jewelry.
