The main idea of the leader of the company, which was supported by the employees was that the space of the new business area of the company Vega IT Sourcing is redesigned so that each office represents one city that is of interest to the company. Five cities that will individually determine the visual identity of the offices are: Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Novi Sad, London and San Francisco. These cities contain most of the clients of the company Vega IT Sourcing.
Following these instructions, we designed the space.
We decided to use the same elements and materials through out all of the rooms that will at the same time be specific for each one. The elements which we included in every room are: wooden walls, printed wall decals and new flying hangers. We also replaced the existing plant pots, trash cans, hangers and central sitting area in each room except in the entertainment room. The addition to every space are new white wooden book shelves.
Over the door of each room are the coordinates of the city which that room represents.
Office number one represents the city of Amsterdam. Entrance to the room is covered with plywood. We decided to go with a wooden covering in order to get warmer atmosphere. Above the door is a printed application of the coordinates. Left and right of the entrance are the hangers. The wood was cut in some places into small rectangular shapes that are then rotated to the floor so that they serve as coat hooks.
There are three big printed wall decals in the room. One represents logo of the city “I amsterdam”, the other one shows three verticaly set red crosses as a symbol of the flag of Holand. The third represents bicycles as trademark of Amsterdam.
The next room in line is the Novi Sad space. The same elements are repeated here. Entryway is covered with plywood. There are three large printed decals: map of Petrovaradin Fortress, the flag of the city of Novi Sad and the coat of arms. The novelty in this room are the flying coat hangers. They are thin metal chains hanging from the ceiling with hooked metal hangers. We also replaced the existing trash cans with the IKEA metal trash cans, as well as a plant pots with IKEA white plant pots.
The third business space is the city of Copenhagen. This is the smallest offices, that consists of 4 walls. The first wall is the entrance. It is covered with plywood. Above the door are printed coordinates of Copenhagen, as in other rooms. Next wall containing the printed wall decal of Copenhagen, to be followed is a red symbol of the flag of Denmark, which is repeated on the next wall, followed by the graphic of the houses in a row, representing Nyhavn, the famous district of Copenhagen.
Visual identity of the next room is determined by the symbols of London. Space is marked by the two printed wall decals. One is a silhouette of London, spreaded over the entire wall. Another one is just above the working tables, right of the entrance, representing the map of England. Entrance area is covered in plywood, it contains the same hangers as in the other two rooms. They are set on different heights for dinamic atmosphere.
The fifth room is located on the lower level and represents San Francisco. It contains all of the above that is stated in the previous rooms: the entrance zone covered with plywood and hanging coat racks, as well as three printed wall decals: famous San Francisco private houses, cable car, Golden Gate Bridge and the Trans American Building.
Every wall in the entertainment room is covered with plywood to warm the atmosphere. Wall across the entrance door contains 5 simple IKEA white clocks, each showing the current time in one of metioned cities. Name of the cities are written under each clock. The wall opposite to that one is covered with printed pool table balls. The existing ceiling lighting has been replaced by metal IKEA industrial design chandeliers.
