Key Features of the Masterplan:

Reconnection: Prior to WWII a greater network of alley ways and footpathsexisted linking the centre of Hull to the fruit market right through to the marina. As Hull was the most damaged English city outside of London during the second world war air raids, this caused the fruit market to become disconnected from the city. Another largely contributing factor to this fracture in the city network would be the A63 dual carriageway which severs the Fruit Market from the city.

Mixed use development: The principal land uses within the fruit market would be workspaces for creatives, Studio spaces, Retail with crafts and areas for entertainment, food and drink. This would include record shops and areas of culture and music.

Workshops: Areas to create art and design, including classes in the arts and food.

Tourism: Reconnecting the already popular areas of the deep and the marina to create a space which would attract more people. tourism and revive the fruit market area,
Accommodation: Creating new accommodation is essential in the design of the new masterplan. To ensure their are people in the fruit market area at al times of the day, these could be prime apartments with a waterfront view.

Beacon for Regeneration:
The proposal will be driven by a focal point at the forefront of the fruit market site, enhancing people, finance and culture in the area. This beacon for regeneration will be a theatre for music events, including areas for teaching for use by the University of Hull.
