3D Environment - Witch Cottage

INTRO

For my environment, set and prop creation module at University, I was given a brief to design and create a 3D environment of a witch cottage for use in a game engine.  This included staying within a polygon limit, a space limit of 25m x 25m and including collision geometry.  The environment had to be designed to be played in first person in a slow paced game and had to include crooked feel. Strictly no gore! Which saddened me slighly I must say.

The tools I used for this project were Photoshop and Maya.  All the textures were taken from cgtextures.com and then edited in Photoshop to fit the style.
The props required thought into the amount of detail that was required as they would be viewed up close in a first person view.  I was heavily inspired by 'Ni No Kuni' and liked the idea of having props such as oversized mushrooms to give it that magical feel.  I was also asked to add an eldritch garden which I filled with alchemy tables, pots and scrolls to give it a sense that a witch or someone magical lived there.  Not to forget a broom of course! Which is propped up by her door ready to fly when she awakes.

The skybox was taken from 'Ni No Kuni' so I cannot take credit for that, I unfortunately ran out of time what with other modules etc to create my own backdrop.  For the final touch I added glowflies to give it a bit of an atmosphere and plenty of foliage to fill the space.
