Henna On Canvas Painting, 'Mandorla'

Mandorla
Commissioned Henna Painting on Canvas
A beautiful couple, Simon and Victoria were getting marred and as a gift to each other they had commissioned me to do a painting for them. I wanted to work with something they and me both could relate to, and which would symbolise not only the union were were about to celebrate, but also the beautiful future that was ahead of them.

As being a lover of circles, I wanted to straight away create a, 'Mandala' painting symbolising the never ending love they had for each other, but that was working only with the moment and not as a blessing for their future.

Started working with the two circles, symbolising Simon and Victoria's personalities.
Inner circles are drawn free hand, but then to keep the shape right, I had to use the threads to create the outlined circles with a pencil.

Closer look at the pattern, all done free hand with no planning other than the pencil circle.
Detail of the piece, to show the freehand, delicate lace like filling around the Mandorla.
