Creating a notebook of hope.
This project was about the possibility of giving away a wish without forcing it onto the user.
The asian tradition of folding 1000 paper cranes in return for a wish was converted into a notebook with perforated paper, where each paper was divided into appropriate squares which showed the creases along which to fold the paper cranes. The notebook contained enough paper to fold just over 1000 cranes.

I designed a set of instructions for how to fold paper cranes, as well as providing information detailing the tradition.
The pattern for the notebook background was constructed based on creases in the paper that originated when a finished crane was unfolded. The use of different colours aimed to distinguish between the directions of the folds. Each page contained enough squares to fold 12 cranes.

The general concept was to allow the user to determine what they would use the notebook for, how they would use it in combination with folding the cranes (if they decided to fold cranes at all), thereby granting the possibility of a wish without forcing it upon them.
