Ali Bin Ali Printing Publication

Printing Publication
For company Ali Bin Ali
Ali Bin Ali is a company that owns a Media & Publishing company and a Printing House. I was asked to design publications for both sections of the company as a show case of their credentials. The Media & Publishing Brochure had simple Production effects and strictly only presented the companies body of work. For the Printing Brochure, Ali Bin Ali requested for a technical design with several finishes and production techniques.

The following design is a digital design sent to the client for final approval. The design has several technical production effects such as folds, die-cuts. inserts, and even a pop-up. There will be a use of silver foiling, lamination, spot UV and 3D images. In addition to all the finishing and production tricks, the use of a variety of papers will be implemented, such as Calc paper, textured paper, colored translucent paper and so on.
The contents page will contain Spot-UV and the use of Calc Paper
The use of fold in this section is to add dimension through colour blocking
Same use of fold in this section however as you can see the fold in a different direction, which is what creates the colour blocking on this spread and the previous
The use of a window die-cut allows the user to view the images on this and the following spread differently.
On the right we have a spread that is double backed, and the use of
perforation, so the user can feel they are interaction with the publication.
When there perforation has been opened, the Company's Services are revealed
and we see an example of one of the services on the image, as it will be laminated.
On the right, I have created a structured bow out of paper, which will be mounted to the spread.
This is to show the view of the extent of production effects that can be done, especially with paper.
The center spread contains a Pop-Up. This spread will be placed in last, as the publication will need to be
stapled/binded first, then this die-cut spread will be mounted (double backed) by a grey paper. So as the
Pop-Up lifts up, a dark grey background will be behind the squares, allowing the CMYK colours to really POP!
On the left we see the continuation of the structured paper bow. This bow can be presented in two ways. One being
the vertical strip of paper actually wraps around the double spread to conceal the Pop-Up center spread within it,
and the user will have to break the top and bottom edge to open the spread. Or, a less interactive option being, the
structure is simple mountaineer on the publication, to give the impression that the spreads were wrapped by the strip.
On the right we see a sleeve mounted to the publication, inside the sleeve we have a card which displays illustrations of vintage printing and publication machines, which when pulled from the sleeve, is show cased nicely through the window.
The following are the illustrations of the vintage printing and publication machines that will  be the insert to the sleeve.
The following is the front and back design of the card and it demonstrates machines such as a Linotype, Typewriter, Embossing, Paper cutting, Book Binding and so on. I feel having the portrayal of the old machines presented in this
modern way, gives this section an interesting and dynamic contrast.
The image on the right is a 3D image created specially for this publication
On the right, much like the strutted paper bow, we have paper strips mounted in a weaving pattern. This was
done in this specific way, the present the equipment and machines used by the company, in a innovative way.
In this spread, I presented the 4 inserts, which will be created from coloured translucent paper, to replicate
colour printing plates. This will give the user a feel and experience of a printing press and CMYK colour use.
This section of the publication was quite critical as this is where the client can showcase their existing products
and projects. This spread allows the company to place their business card for potential business clients.
This spread allows the client to place publications and marketing collateral. This spread was created in this
way, so the client doesn't have to only place one specific work or project. The client has complete freedom
to place anything they wish in the pockets, whether it may be their main projects or their most recent.
In this spread, we have the company CD inserted, so they can place
their company credentials on the CD as a giveaway for potential clients
Once again, a 3D image has been created specially for this publication and will be featured.
3D glasses will be given with the publication. The use of 3D images are to give the publication
a look and feel that this company is dynamic, innovative and dimensional.
