Kintai – this is a town in lithuania. This place benefits from its perfect georgraphical setting – southeast of Kintai is Nemuno river deltas regional park, and towards the north – Kintu botanical reserve. Near the plot of land remains the original parishs‘ foundation and the old garden.
Here you can find renovated historical and religious buildings, including renovated blocks of flats which were built during the soviet union era, as well as restaurants, hotels, and old meeting spaces.
The old barn has been reconstructed into a multifunctional building: living plots, changing rooms, and the main space can be changed from being a concert hall to a conference room. Although the inner space has changed entirely from its original purpose, the outside changes remain minimal – the size of the building remains the same. The inside beams have been kept the same, the outside used a fachwerk frame to resemble the construction of the inside and to keep its originality.
The hotel is designed to fit two purposes –sleeping and dining. Wanting to show the contrast between today’s architectural styles and the styles used back then, a variety of building styles were chosen. The residential block was designed on the old parsonages foundation. Through using todays building technology and materials, the original form and appearance of the old building was trying to be recreated. Near the already mentioned building, there is another one being designed – a café. The building is being created as a closed space for function purposes. The building has been designed with an exposed ceiling, and an amphitheatre which is directed towards the stage. The café is also over one level, and the style is similar to that of the hotel’s restaurant.
All three buildings have used one common type of finish, which is the use of white and black cement linings. Dynamics across the three buildings is caused by the linings being installed with different distances apart.
