Tribute to William A. Dwiggins

A TRIBUTE TO WILLIAM ADDISON DWIGGINS (1880-1956), the first man to use the term "graphic designer". He was a skilled type designer, calligrapher, book designer, and illustrator, among other skills.

The objective of this project is to make an object that commemorates his contribution to the graphic design community. This is meant to be a museum piece.

The dark M was 3D printed and the acrylic layers were laser cut. Each layer represents one of his skills: Typography, Calligraphy, Book Design and Illustration.

He is the designer of the typography used in the M.
Metro series was developed by Linotype in the late 1920s.
