In this personal project I challenged myself to move away from drawing in isolation, to create a series of scenes. I wanted to push the boundaries of my usual bold, linear, vector work to see if I could create something more intricate, whilst continuing to utilise negative space and block colour. My process began with sketching on paper, playing with composition and form. I then used vectors to create the image in Adobe Illustrator, to give the piece a crisp, clean finish. I chose The Home because I wanted to make the images relatable and uplifting, in the hope that people can identify with them and enjoy them. The overviewing angle allows for The Home to be appreciated holistically, with the bright colours emphasising this; this appreciation can be lost in hectic modern life, where the home acts as a pitstop, unable to be viewed as a whole. The continuity of the colour palette works to bring together this whole, yet its varying use also provides distinction between each space: downstairs, upstairs and garage, a theme which could be carried forward if I extend this project in the future.
