Vogue Street Lights project for Bond street

This Project was hosted by Vogue in May 2011 the concept behind this event was to involve MA students from Central saint Martins and the Royal College of Art to redesign the fine jewellers windows in Bond Street. Each small group was allocated a jeweller to work with during this period. Anne Frobeen and Kim Norton were collaborating with George Jensen. The brief was to incorporate the brands scandinavian aesthetic and the concept was born from George Jensen's early creative training.
This project was conceived to provide a platform to showcasethe jewellery collection. The strong Scandinavian aesthetic has been our mainconsideration throughout but we also wanted to reference George Jensen’s earlycreative career by incorporating a material that is not usually associated withthe brand today. Georg Jensen was educated in ceramics and sculpture we feltthis would be an exciting opportunity to echo this period of creativity anddesign.
Porcelain seemed to be the obvious choice resonatingqualities of purity, perfection, clarity, quietness it has a rich identity rootedwithin tableware therefore we decided to use a manufacturing technique to pushthe material visually and physically in some cases to breaking pointchallenging the preconception of perfection and hinting at a rawness which sitsagainst the preciousness of the pieces on display creating a strong visualthrough the use of monotones, repetition, scale and an element of ambiguity.
