When set the task of designing a typeface 'for our time', I decided to focus on the issue of ageism and the need to cater to those less able within every day design.

 

Moden is a typeface for the ageing eye, designed for maximum legibility when the eye loses the ability to focus properly. Moden was put to the test by using methods of blurring to judge whether it is still legible when the eye cannot focus.
