The stem of a traditional martini glass is designed to keep hands away from the bowl, keeping the martini at an optimal 38 degrees. However, most people hold these delicate glasses by the bowl for security.

38-2, an award-winning entry for the 2004 Bombay Sapphire Design a Martini Glass competition, accommodates one's natural tendency in holding a martini glass and allows for an alternate use.

Upright, the design maintains the iconic martini glass profile: a triangular bowl, thin stem, and round base. The double wall prevents the hand from warming the drink. Inverted, the negative space is filled, the vestigial stem serves as a garnish spike and the circular base becomes the rim to drink from.

As much as there is not only one type of martini, there is not only 1 way to hold and use the glass. Right side up, upside down, whichever is your pleasure.
