Olsryd 9 cylinder radial engine in SolidWorks

Olsryd 9 cylinder radial engine
Modelled in SolidWorks
This is a quarter scale model of the Wright J-5 Whirlwind engine that powered Lindberg’s Spirit of St. Louis. It is designed by the late Swedish modeller Karl-Erik Olsryd and the plans are available on www.olsryd.com in PDF format. They are not fully complete or consistent, but they are free, and it is an amazing engine, complete with oil tank, compressor-feeding, ignition distributor and gear box, numerous ball and roller bearings and a test stand.
These are some of the original drawings by Jan Elg used to create the 3D model.
From left to right: Distributor, planetary gear and blower impeller.
