Concept
In the classic book “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak, the main character Max is sent to his room without dinner by his mother. His imagination sets him free, leading him to the land of the "Wild Things", where he becomes king.

The crowns symbolizes Max’s ultimate desire, to be free, to be wild. Spike Jonze’s “crown” was to develop the film from a child’s perspective.

Notes
