DiGuitar
Digital MIDI-Controller
The DiGuitar combines analogue playability with a digital recording environment. The guitar doesn’t use strings, instead it utilizes a touch-sensitive surface to analyze finger positions and strumming patterns. The technology consists of conventional multi-touch capable surface, analyzing finger positions to model a chord via MIDI. The frets of the guitar bulge out of the flat surface via liquid micro channels. This is necessary as guitars and basses differ in fret positioning. Increase liquid pressure of a certain channel, it bulges out, a basic principle used by braille surfaces. Piezoelectric actuators emit a vibration in the frequency range of the note played by each finger. The subcutaneous receptors recognize these vibrations as the physical string. To put it shortly, a human receptor deception.
