In May 2016, Metal Hammer planned to put Gojira on the cover for the very first time to celebrate their new album Magma. Gojira are known for their environmental work with Sea Shepherd in particular so the idea came about to involve the sea in some way.
After a bit of thought, I knew that Steve Brown would be the photographer to create the final image, so I came up with a mood board and sketched some ideas that would work as intended with his photography and photoshop skills. Letting the images do the work for the hard main package and getting Magictorch to create some floating text for the cover reveal and the opening feature I was able to tie it all together into a package we could be proud of for a bands cover debut
